notes on Shell Canyon

[With a Tom Chester botanizing expedition, we park on Shell Canyon Rd at
the end of the smooth portion and walk in. Two of us come to a fork and take
the right fork into what turns out to be a side canyon of Shell Canyon.]

probably the other end of that side road, not so sharp R is what appears to be
a continuation of the main road

we take the continuation of the main road

124-267! this is the end, to my R is a cave, I turn around

back at the junction [47-116-1-248], I turn L and approach the barrier

152-235! the barrier blocks cars, but not pedestrians, end of this part, I
turn around mileage here 7.06

I join the others about 0.31 miles down and then go back up with them

I continue up the canyon and I stop and turn around at 7.87 miles [although
the canyon seems to continue indefinitely]
