the view point, we turn around, end of this part back at the place where we turned [95-987] we continue on the trail 85-982 77-974 55-947 50-911 53-883 54-848 34-837 7-818 977-797 this looks like an old roadbed 968-744 950-712 909-658 897-651 887-631 879-626-arroyo we cross and arroyo 58-866-52-618! this is as far as we go, it appears as though the trail leads to a corral, end of this part, we turn around trip odometer reset to 0.00 at turnaround point about 0.21 miles, the trail veers off the old road 0.48 small flat area [second viewpoint noted previously] 0.60 first viewpoint is to the R 1.00 miles barbed wire fence return to parking area at 2.33 miles time now is 12:37 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------------- survey of Barnett Ranch Open Space Preserve Spetember 15, 2007 entrance to Barnett [sp] Ranch Open Space Preserve on San vicente Rd at Deviney [sp] Lane, street address is 21445, 33 0.08 N 116 51.80 W [0-8-51-80] 5-86 parking area I'm walking along Deviney Lane 0-94 99-97 59-96-52-8 junction, I turn L onto Valley View Trail and Overlook Trail 92-6 87-4 84-1 78-90 78-88 81-84 road goes through a gap in a long, straight fence, there are also some utility lines, probably telephone, along the fence 82-82 82-74 81-65 81-60 80-55 79-50 side road L, I keep R on what appears to be the main road 59-77-51-47 T intersection, Overlook Trail 0.06 miles R, Valley View Trail 0.3 miles L I follow the Overlook Trail there are also power lines here, and this is probably the access road for the power lines 74-47 I reach the summit 73-47! road ends at a turnaround, I take some pictures and then turn around, end of this part back at the junction [59-77-51-47], I go the other way 78-45 78-41 78-37 76-36 73-37 this is a pretty good place for mountain biking, and I see some bike tire tracks 69-43 68-46 59-66-51-48! road continues, apparently going to a ranch house, there are signs marking this as the edge of the preserve, I turn around here after taking some pictures [there is a view point here next to a power pole that is probably the reason for the Valley View name] 59--79--51--49 [change to 79-50 to match previous reading] right into previously noted side road 80-47 83-47 59-86-51-47! road ends next to a power pole, it's a rocky area quite near San Vicente Rd, in fact, there is an informal path that appears to go down to San Vicente Rd, end of this part, I turn around I turn R and go back the way I came back at junction with main road [59-96-52-8], I turn L to Rattlesnake Trail and Oak Loop Trail 92-24 paved road veers R onto private property, I continue SA onto the unpaved road, and I take pictures of signs 91-27 unpaved road turns L and is signed as a trail, I follow it 79-27 73-27 70-26 67-23 64-28 61-30 58-35 55-39 52-43 51-46 49-48 a few trees here, and a picnic table to my R 42-50 59-38-52-51 junction, Rattlesnake Trail to R, Oak Loop Trail SA, I turn R 38-56 39-58 a sign saying I'm leaving County property, but the trail is well beaten and it has [mountain bike] tire tracks on it 37-59 this is definitely a single track 35-63 32-64 31-70 30-74 28-76 23-80 20-82 17-85 16-88 15-90-"view point" a stone cairn, and apparently a view point L [this is apparently the end of the Rattlesnake Trail] 15-92 trail is getting narrower and rougher, I think this may be a social trail 14-94 13-97 11-97 a large rock to my R [photo 31128] and a fairly good view 10-97 59-9-52-99 apparent end of trail in a clearing there is a continuation going down the hill, I'm going to follow it for at least a short distance 9-98 6-95 I see some manure on the trail, apparently this does go somewhere 5-91 5-85 3-84 99-81 98-80 97-74 58-95-52-71! this appears to be going into somebody's ranch, end of this part, I turn around and go back the way I came [I stop and eat lunch near the following junction] back at the junction [59-38-52-51], I turn R 36-50 35-49 33-45 road L, probably the other end of the loop, and there's a picnic table here [inside the loop] 33-43 33-41 35-41 35-42 other end of loop [33-45!] end of this part I go back to the parking area by the most direct loop, taking a few pictures along the way 12:06 PM back at the parking area, end of trip 6.6 miles on my GPS odometer I will drive toward Ramona and record some of the coordinates in the GPS [0-8-51-80 when turning onto San Vicente Rd] number 16 at Warnock is the last coordinate recorded 1 00-13-51-82 2 00-16-51-84 3 00-20-51-89 4 00-21-51-90 5 00-24-51-92 6 00-29-51-93 7 00-32-51-94 8 00-34-51-94 9 00-38-51-94 10 00-41-51-93 11 00-45-51-93 12 00-48-51-94 13 00-53-51-97 14 00-56-51-98 15 00-59-51-99 16 00-87-51-99!
