I follow a faint path up the hill to the L to look for street access it leads to a fenced backyard, end of this part, I turn around 784--281 back at place where I turned L, I continue SA to check the other way [change to 788-288 to match previous reading] 785-305 788-345 790-349! path ends with a sewer manhole, there are thickets all around, apparently no street access, end of this part, I turn around back at the junction, I turn R and go up a steep, short path to the street [788-288] 787-281-"Juniper St" I lift my bike over a guardrail and enter a signed and gated entrance on the other side of the street 772-287 I go around the gate 767-283 738-284 724-285 708-286 680-283 671-274! trail continues, but it is quite overgrown, so I turn around, end of this part [I turn R on Juniper St] [coordinates of streets taken to provide positioning information] 808-195 Juniper and Westland 803-55 R on Pentuckett 693-35! Ivy St L, I stop calling lat-lon 43-365-7-102 entrance to Cedar Ridge Park I walk around the park clockwise to delineate its edges 366-73 350-65 345-106 trails to L which I'm going to follow later 348-118 371-111 connect this point to the starting point [43-365-7-102!] and end of this part this park has a drinking fountain that works! [I park by bike and explore the nearby trails on foot] I enter Juniper Canyon Open Space at the official sign [345-106] 336-98 281-104 side trail R, I continue SA 263-104! there are steep trails going down to those below, end of this part, I turn around back at junction, I turn L [281-104] 288-115 trail splits, I take L fork 309-128 331-132 four-way jucntion, I turn L 336-149 330-160 314-162! trail emerges on another that is on the official map, end of this part, I turn around back at the four-way, I turn L [331-132] 340-132 back at the trailhead at the park [345-106], I take off in another direction 325-114 side trail R, I turn R back at that four-way junction [331-132!], end of this part, I turn around back at place where I turned R [325-114], I turn R 304-115 back at the fork in the trail [288-115!], end of this part, I go back to the park [I get back on my mountain bike] this area has a lot of small social trails, which makes it hard to map 43-373-7-175 S end of Whaley a lot of brush has been piled up at the end of the street, I'm going to see if I can get into the preserve I walk down a drainage channel and get in that way 368-184 341-171 314--163 previously encountered junction, I continue on the main path down the canyon [change to 314-162 to match previous reading] 298-165 267-144 fork in the trail, I keep R 251-136 226-132 215-121! trail emerges at end of cul-de-sac, end of this part, I turn around there is a locked gate here, but a gap in the fence next to the gate admits bicyclists and pedestrians back at the fork, I turn sharp R [267-144] 237-103! to L is steep trail that I noted before, I note that there appears to be no easy way down from here, end of this part, I go back the way I came and back to that cul-de-sac back at the cul-de-sac, I follow the street 212-77 street turns R, there are no street signs here [I go around a gate and back into the preserve] 218-75 229-95 T intersection I turn L 219-107! gap in the fence next to a locked gate, this is the real entrance, end of this part, I turn around pass the junction [229-95] 248-80 dry stream crossing so rough that i have to get off and walk 280-66 I turn R and cross the dry stream on a small weir 285-43 342-19 343-13 another stream crossing on a small weir actually, it isn't a weir, it's probably an armored sewer line 349-16 373-998 396-988 413-968 482-916-sign a Juniper Canyon Open Space sign [suggesting that I am leaving the open space] the official city map shows no street access, but it looks like there is street access SA 524-908 545-897 553-885 565-893! trail emerges at corner of Boundary and Haller, end of this part EB on Cedar St about halfway between Felton and Gregory 43-337-7-328 small parklike area to R, and the beginning of that path [on the city map] 344-345 Cedar and Gregor, and the path continue E across a ravine 340-306 345-296 343-288 332-262 334-226 339-233 343-256 340-273 348-270 339-290! back on the main trail, end of this part [I go back home for lunch and continue in the afternoon] four-way stops at Myrtle and Nile and at Thorn and Nile entering Montclair Neighborhood Park at foot of Nile St and walking the periphery so I can show it accurately 44-164-7-52 166-42 167-29 there is an informal connection to the end of an alley here 156-31 138-13 122-996 108-958 109-926 103-904 89-898-" " something like a path off toward the freeway it apparently doesn't go very far, although there are crude paths along and near the free ROW fence 86-901 74-922 100-984 101-989! back at foot of Nile, and end of this part a single track going down the canyon W of here does not connect to the park, there is a trail going down to it, but it is very steep and rough the park itself is fenced, so the only other way down there is probably through a small hole in the fence [near the side path previously noted] S side of Thorn St between Nile and Boundary and entering an alley at 44-396-7-183 363-168 268-137-gate I come to a gate and there's a little path around it, I continue 219-118 a dry stream crossing 187-102 137-56 the path has narrowed to a single track, but it is still ridable 122-38 106-18 I'm at the bottom of that very steep path up to the park 63-956! the path becomes overgrown and nearly impassible, end of this part, I turn around I try to get my bike up the slope, but I fail, I have to go back the way I came
